Library will host chicken barbecue

Looking for a quick lunch or dinner idea? Get your tickets for a chicken barbecue to benefit the Manheim Community Library. Tickets are on sale now through Tuesday, April 18. The barbecue will be available by drive-through pickup at the Manheim Farm Show Complex, 502 E. Adele Ave., on Saturday, April 29. "We will have pickup from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then from 1 to 2 p.m., anyone who didn't prepurchase chicken can buy leftovers if we have any," said Jes Wagner, community relations coordinator for the library.

There will be two options for the barbecue, which will be prepared by Manheim-based Peters' Barbecue. People may purchase a chicken-only ticket or a full dinner. The dinner will include a half-chicken, a baked potato, applesauce, a roll and butter and utensils.

"This is our first time hosting a chicken barbecue," Wagner remarked, noting that several staff members brainstormed the idea when thinking about fundraisers. "We know of other nonprofits that have done very well with chicken barbecues, so we thought we'd give it a try. We're excited to see how it goes."

Proceeds from ticket sales will be used to fund operational costs and programming at the library.

Wagner said anyone looking for a tasty, affordable meal should consider purchasing a ticket. "This is your chance to get Peters' Barbecue in this area, which I know is very popular," she stated. "It's also for a great cause."

Pickup for the barbecue will be located near the exhibit hall. People should bring their tickets or their receipt if tickets were ordered online. To purchase tickets, visit the library, 15 E. High St., or order online at https://manheimlibrary.org/bbq.
