Limeville Church to host Kids Carnival

A bounce house, barrel train rides and children's games will be featured at the Kids Carnival being presented at Limeville Church on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. All activities are free.

"Just bring yourself and your kids for a fun time," said Melanie Shivery, who is an event organizer along with Deb Baldwin.

All children in attendance will receive a prize and free food. "When they come, they will get a bag with a prize ticket in there and tickets for free food and snacks," Shivery said, noting that children can choose their own prize from a prize table. "There will also be information in the bag about the church, the (Limeville's) Blessings store and the Monday night children's program (beginning in October)."

Shivery is the coordinator of the church's Limeville's Blessings store, which offers free clothing, hygiene products, basic household items and children's toys to people in need. She posted flyers at the store about the upcoming carnival.

"Last year, we were close to 160 (in attendance), which was an increase from previous years," said Shivery. "A lot of the families that are shopping (attend) when they hear it's a free and a fun event. (The carnival) has really grown."

All activities will take place outdoors in a grassy area behind the church. All children in attendance must be accompanied by an adult.

In the event of inclement weather, cancellation information will be posted on the church's Facebook page, which has changed from http://www.facebook.com/LimevilleUMC to http://www.facebook.com/Limeville1Church.

"Our new church Facebook page is named 'Limeville Church' since we are no longer part of the United Methodist Church," Shivery noted.

The carnival is just one community outreach offered by Limeville Church. It also holds an annual Christmas program for families and an Easter egg hunt.

Beginning on Oct. 14, the church will offer Great Bible Adventures, a weekly children's program that will meet on Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. "The kids learn a story from the Bible, sing, make crafts and have a snack. It's a lot of fun," Shivery said.

The church will also present a fall show in November. Vendors interested in participating in the event may call the church office at 717-442-4010.

The Sunday service at Limeville Church is held at 10:15 a.m. Sunday school for people of all ages is offered prior to the service at 9 a.m. All services are livestreamed on Facebook.

Limeville Church is located at 5783 Limeville Road, Gap. For more information about the church, visit the previously mentioned Facebook page or www.limevillechurch.org. To learn more about Limeville's Blessings, visit http://www.facebook.com/LimevillesBlessingsStore.
