Lions Club Donates Funds

Columbia Lions Club recently distributed proceeds from the Thunder on the River car show. Off the Streets Susquehanna, CHI St. Joseph Children's Health and the Janson Foundation each received $3,500.

Off the Streets Susquehanna is a nonprofit that helps homeless individuals and families obtain affordable housing. Off the Streets Susquehanna provides a security deposit, basic furniture and household items for homeless people who can afford to pay a monthly rent but do not have the means to pay the security deposit. For more information, email otssusq21@gmail.com.

The funds given to CHI St. Joseph Children's Health will go toward the Healthy Columbia Baby Box Program, which provides eligible parents with a cardboard bassinet with a firm mattress and fitted sheet to serve as a safe place for infants to sleep, along with onesies, bibs, wash cloths, socks, a sleep sack, burp cloths and parent education materials about safe sleep. Families interested in receiving a baby box may contact 717-397-7625 or visit http://www.healthycolumbiapa.org.

The Janson Foundation maintains Janson Park.
