Lions Club holds trout fishing event

The Garden Spot Lions Club held its annual trout fishing rodeo for handicapped individuals on May 11. Approximately 40 participants from Sunny Crest Home, Zerbe Sisters Skilled Nursing Center, and Welsh Mountain Home and others of all ages attended the event, held beside the James Sensenig farm pond in Churchtown. Participants were assisted by about 75 volunteers, including members of the Garden Spot Lions Club and Terre Hill Boy Scout Troop 172.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission issued a permit to the Lions Club to exempt the participants from licensing for the event. The Horace Keller family contributed all fishing equipment for the rodeo.

The Garden Spot Lions Club serves several communities in northeastern Lancaster County and welcomes new members. For additional information, call club president Stuart McLauchlan at 610-322-4284.
