Lions Club honors students

The Manheim Lions Club has recognized two Lancaster County Career & Technology Center (LCCTC) Students of the Month. Hailey Peterson was the honoree for January, and Danielle Dommel was recognized for February.

Hailey is enrolled in the animal science program at the Willow Street LCCTC campus. She was recognized for having a positive attitude, participating in class, and being a team player.

Hailey was on the first marking period honor roll, and she is the chairperson of the FFA Week committee. Her recent activities have included helping to coordinate dress-down days, a teacher luncheon, and a car and truck show in February.

Danielle is enrolled in the early childhood education program at the Mount Joy campus of LCCTC. She was recognized for her kindness, patience, and willingness to jump in and help a classmate. She earns A's in her classes.

Danielle enrolled in the early childhood education program to expand her opportunities in working with and teaching children. In her clinical placements, she has integrated well into classrooms of various age groups. She has particularly found benefit from the lesson planning in the program as well as the clinical experiences. Danielle has participated in clinical experiences at Baron Elementary School, Donegal Primary School, and Bright Horizons.

Outside school, she helps her family care for younger foster children. She hopes to one day work in a child care center, particularly with infants through prekindergartners.

Danielle is also active in softball at Manheim Central High School.
