Lower Swatara Lions Club coordinated the assembly of more than 760 stockings for shipment to members of the military for the holidays. Highspire VFW Post 8638 under Commander Susan McMurray, Central Penn Chaos Softball team, Susquehanna River Reactors softball and baseball team and various individuals donated time and materials for the project.

Additionally, the Lions Club recognized Henry Lawrence, son of Laura and Jeff Lawrence of Middletown, as Student of the Quarter at Middletown Area Middle School. Henry received a check and certificate.

Lower Swatara Lions Club is a community service organization. Founded in 1974, it hosts numerous events to serve the community and welcome new members. Club members meet on the second Thursday of each month at the Lions clubhouse, 2 Theodore Ave., Middletown.
