At a recent Manheim Lions Club meeting, Global Messenger Chloe Phillips was presented with a check from club president Ed Keyser for the Special Olympics in Lancaster.

The Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic sports for people with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The Manheim Lions is a service organization whose mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs. The group meets on the first Monday and third Tuesday of each month. Those interested in joining may contact Lion Dave Husser at 717-940-9629.
