Lippert earns Eagle Scout rank

Luke Lippert, 16, a member of Boy Scout Troop 33 of East Petersburg, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Luke is the son of Christine and Kene Lippert. Luke is a rising junior at Hempfield High School and the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center's Mount Joy campus, where he focuses on metal manufacturing.

While in Troop 33, Luke has held the positions of historian and patrol leader. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow national honor society. Luke recently attended the 2023 National Jamboree held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. During the 10-day event, Luke served as a patrol leader for the Pennsylvania Dutch Council contingent. His other activities with Troop 33 have included many troop service projects and camping trips.

For his Eagle Scout project, Luke worked with Help Our Military Endure (HOME), based in Webster, Texas. HOME is a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to the United States military serving in far-off countries. Luke collected food, hygiene products and monetary donations from local businesses, individuals and organizations. He was able to assemble 43 care packages, which he then sent to U.S. military bases in Jordan; Djibouti, Africa; and South Korea. Luke received photos and letters from service members at some of the bases thanking him for making their day special with necessities and goodies from home.

Luke received his Eagle Scout Award during a ceremony and celebration held on June 11 at the Lititz Springs Park.
