Lititz Library Posts Programs

The Friends of the Lititz Public Library will host three special events in September. The book sale will take place on Thursday, Sept. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.; on Friday, Sept. 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Buck-a-Bag sale will begin at noon on Saturday. The Friends will host a jewelry sale on Friday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Friends will also sponsor a fall bus trip to Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, N.J., on Wednesday, Sept. 28; there is a fee per person.

The Lititz Garden Club will meet on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 p.m. Sinclair Adam, PSU trial garden director, will present on "Shrubs."

The library offers several ongoing programs. Morning Yoga will take place at 9 a.m. on Fridays. Tai Chi Easy will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County will discuss "Exoplanets ... Could You Find One?" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7. Tech Talk at the Library will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 13, to discuss "What is Hoopla?" at 5 p.m. Great Decisions Discussion Group will gather at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. The Painting Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 28. The Literary Travelers Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.

Ongoing programs will continue with the Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, which will gather from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 19, and on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. The Jane Austen Society will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a cup of tea and all things Austen. BYOB - Bring Your Own Book (Club) will meet on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. to share what members are currently reading.

Baked Books Book Club will gather at 2 p.m. on Sept. 13 to discuss "The Girls Who Chased the Moon" by Sarah Addison Allen and to enjoy a hummingbird cake. To register, contact Diane at dguscott@lititzlibrary.org.

A movie matinee featuring a showing of "Hairspray," which has a PG rating, will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. Popcorn and a drink will be provided. Registration will open on Thursday, Sept. 1.

A Wine Tasting Class will be held on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. People must be age 21 or older to attend. Registration will be limited and will open on Sept. 1.

The Knotwork Band will perform a concert featuring Celtic folk music on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1:30 p.m. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating at the outdoor event. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors. Online registration is required and will begin on Friday, Sept. 2.

Age-specific story times will be offered in the fall for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Both indoor and outdoor programs will be available. Fall story time registration will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will take place on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. for children ages 3 to 6 and their caregivers. This Pennsylvania early literacy program is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, the children and caregivers will visit stations designed to help with skills needed to start school.

The fall StoryWalk will feature "Dog's Colorful Day" by Emma Dodd. The StoryWalk will begin to the right of the Lititz Public Library entrance and move counterclockwise around the library.
