Lititz Library Posts Schedule

Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, will offer a variety of activities for patrons of all ages in September. For more details and registration, call 717-626-2255 or visit http://www.lititzlibrary.org.

The library will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and 28.

The library will hold its fourth annual Local Author Expo on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. until noon. Community members are invited to meet and greet local authors, who will be stationed in the library's community room. Guests can purchase books, talk with the authors and get their books signed. Light refreshments will be served.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to create blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on Tuesdays, Nov. 4 and 18, at 2 p.m.

Grief Stories will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. Grief Stories provides a space for hearing firsthand accounts of overcoming a tragic death and living with hope and purpose.

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Nov. 3 and 17, at 10 a.m. and Tuesdays, Nov. 11 and 25, at 6 p.m.; Baked Books Club on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club, for players age 10 and older, on Wednesdays, Nov. 5 and 19, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, Nov. 12 and 26, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.; Red Rose Quilters Guild of Lancaster Embroidery Mini Group on Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m.; Sewcial Sewing Club on Nov. 26 at 6 p.m.; Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga on Friday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m.; Lititz Art Association, on Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. (no registration is required); and BYOB Book Club, for which attendees may bring whatever they are currently reading, on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m.

The following programs will be offered for children: Lego Club, Saturday, Nov. 15, 10 to 11 a.m. for children ages 6 to 10; Paws to Read, where children can read to a therapy dog, Saturdays, Nov. 8 and 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Thursday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.; and Music for Everyone Drum Circle for children ages 5 to 12, Nov. 12, 6:30 p.m.

The library will host children's book author Eddie Hall on Monday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. Hall, who lives in central Pennsylvania, is the author of "Lonnie and the Wolf Within," which explores feelings and neurodivergence. Books will be available for purchase.

There will be three weeks of parachute classes offered for children on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Dec. 1 through 18. Registration will begins on Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. The classes will include Parachute Play on Mondays and Tuesdays for children ages 3 to 5, who may attend independently, and Little Parachute on Thursdays for children ages 1 and 2, who must attend with a caregiver.

Gift-a-Book will take place from Nov. 17 through Saturday, Dec. 13. Patrons may choose from a selection of books and purchase their favorite for the library. Donors may put a holiday bookplate in the book and be the first to check it out.

The Lititz Public Library's holiday StoryWalk title is "Snowmen at Christmas" by Caralyn Buehner. The StoryWalk will begin to the right of the library entrance and move counterclockwise around the library.

A program for children ages 3 to 6, titled "Cruise into Kindergarten: Oh My Pumpkin Pie!" will be offered on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. After hearing a story about pumpkins, children and their caregivers will visit different stations that will help with skills needed to start school. Online registration will begin two weeks prior to the event.

The Lititz Historical Foundation will hold its annual meeting on Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. After some brief items of business, Lititz Historical Foundation president Cory Van Brookhoven will discuss the history of turnpike mile markers in Lancaster County. Online registration will begin on Nov. 1.

A free concert by the Robin Work Quartet will be held on Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. The group will present a program of musical memories from the American Songbook, featuring songs and music from the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and more. Online registration will begin on Thursday, Oct. 30.

"Threading the Eye of the Needle: A B-17 Tail Gunner's Journey" will be presented on Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will learn about the painted memories of Edward Thompson Cunliffe, a Word War II B-17 tail gunner and POW at Stalag XVII.

The Lititz Garden Club (LGC) will meet on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. The program about nature photography will be presented by Leah Robb, the LGC Native Garden Recipient in 2023. Robb will give a brief history of her journey in gardening with native plants, as documented with photographs using her favorite tool - the smartphone. No registration is needed.

Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County will meet on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. Attendees will learn about the night sky. No registration is required.

Borrowing for a Small Business with Truist Bank will be presented on Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. During the course, attendees will learn why businesses borrow, where to turn for funding and how the lending process works. Take-away resources will be provided. Online registration will begin on Nov. 10.
