Local Boy Scout earns Eagle award

Pearson Haines, 18, a member of Boy Scout Troop 349 of Mountville, recently completed his Eagle Scout requirements. Pearson is the son of Tami Dussinger Morris and Jeremey Haines.

Pearson will graduate from Hempfield High School in May and is currently employed with Rutter's in Mountville.

While in Troop 349, Pearson held various leadership positions. He served as patrol leader and senior patrol leader and was also inducted into Order of the Arrow. His other activities included service projects and hiking part of the Appalachian Trail.

For his Eagle Scout project, Pearson planned and coordinated the construction of a Little Free Library on the property of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Mountville. The library allows people to "Take a Book or Share a Book" at any time.

Pearson received his Eagle Scout award during a ceremony and celebration held on April 23.
