Lower Dauphin graduate wins national art award

Liam Seitz, a recent graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, was named a silver medal winner at the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

The national award followed the six gold keys Seitz won at the regional level for submissions including individual pieces and his portfolio. He was also nominated for an American Visions Award for having a regional gold key work with an authentic vision.

In addition to his success in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Seitz has received several other recognitions for his artwork, including a best in division award and a first-place award for painting in the Hummelstown Art Fest, a best in high school division award in the Youth Art Month competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA), a recognition as Secondary Student of the Month by PAEA, a Lower Dauphin Art Department Award, and a National Art Honor Society Award during senior awards night.

In the community, Seitz has stands at the Harrisburg Flea where he sells his art and at Found Collab, a vintage store in Harrisburg where he sells his hand-painted clothing.

The son of Glenn and Beth Seitz, Liam will attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in finance with a minor in art.
