Lower Dauphin Students Chosen For Festivals

Lower Dauphin School District students have been selected to participate in various music festivals.

High school juniors Antonio Mardegain, bass, and Joesph Goduto, viola, represented Lower Dauphin in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Orchestra Festival. The event took place on Jan. 14 and 15 at Eastern York High School with Hannes Dietrich of Lebanon Valley College serving as guest conductor.

Two juniors will also represent Lower Dauphin in the PMEA District 7 Band Festival. Brandon Davis, trumpet, and Alex Raser, percussion, are scheduled to participate in the PMEA band festival on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28 and 29, at Messiah University. Andrew Boysen of the University of New Hampshire will conduct.

In vocal music, six students earned spots in the PMEA District 7 Choir. They are Cady Kanode, Audrey Meyers, Abigail Foran, Kaitlyn Hoffman, Aden Weigle, and Jack Wolfe. All six are members of the Chamber Singers ensemble at the high school. The PMEA Choir Festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12, at Chambersburg Area High School, and the guest conductor will be Brandon Williams of Rutgers University.

Additionally, more than 50 Lower Dauphin band students will perform in the Dauphin County Music Educators Association Band Festival on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Bishop McDevitt High School.

The high school ensemble will be under the direction of Shippensburg University's Trever Famulare. Lower Dauphin students in this ensemble are Jordan Braman and Matilda Carver, flute; Adrian Olweiler, clarinet; Bryn Powell, bass clarinet; Jack Francis, bassoon; Adam Little, alto saxophone; Jack Caugherty, Brandon Davis, Anamilley Diaz, Enzo Dreon, and Katelynn Groscost, trumpet; Peter Foran, euphonium; and Haden Milic, Alex Raser, and Dylan Kreiss, percussion.

Lower Dauphin Middle School students performing at the county festival are Ada Howard, Christopher Brenneman, Abigail Irwin, and Ezra Pearson, flute; Mia Pegher, oboe; Savannah Ogle, Riley Beers, and Anthony Bruno, clarinet; Lorelei Hoffer, alto saxophone; Thaddeus Shradley and Julia Markowitz, trumpet; Micah Fox, Meredith Taylor, Alex Elicker, and Nova Mayer, French horn; Miranda Raser and Brody Fogel, trombone; Brynn Woodall, baritone; and William Bell, percussion. The guest conductor for the middle school ensemble will be Matt Ceresini, band director at Hempfield High School.

Serving as guest conductors in the elementary band are Lower Dauphin High School band director Keith Richardson and Central Dauphin East Middle School band director Nora Knott. Conewago Elementary School student Carson Ogle will play the trumpet in the elementary school county band. Participants from East Hanover Elementary School are Abigail Heverley and Kaylee Swigert, clarinet; Lydia Hess, flute; and Brayden Subbio, percussion. Students chosen at Londonderry Elementary School are Aubrey Lanza, oboe, and Nahomie Dunkleberger, clarinet. The ensemble will also include Nye Elementary School students Andrew Bruno, Kolbe Diffendall, and Lucas Gliot, trumpet; Eli Hoppes and Xavier Richmond, alto saxophone; and Nolan Sanders, flute. At South Hanover Elementary School, the chosen students are Sophia Warble, flute; Aria Misiolek, clarinet; Graham Richardson, trumpet; and Bennet Sullivan, percussion.
