LSO concert to showcase music by Mozart

The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will continue its 2024-25 season with a performance of "Mozart's Twin Titans." The concert will showcase two of Mozart's most famous works - Symphony No. 40 in G Minor and the Requiem in D Minor.

Show dates and times are Friday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. Performances will take place at the Gardner Theatre within Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster.

Due to a recent lymphoma diagnosis, music director Michael Butterman will not be able to conduct this concert. The LSO will welcome Robert Franz as guest conductor; Franz has led major symphonies across the country. Butterman previously filled in for Franz in 2020 when Franz was undergoing lymphoma treatment. Now, with Franz stepping up to the podium in Lancaster, it is a full-circle moment, highlighting the sense of community and support in the orchestral world.

Joining the orchestra for the performance will be the Lancaster Symphony Chorus prepared by chorusmaster William Wright, as well as four vocal soloists: Jessica Beebe, soprano; Adriana Zabala, alto; Dann Coakwell, tenor; and Kenneth Overton, bass.

Tickets are available at www.lancastersymphony.org or by calling the box office at 717-291-6440.
