Make memories at a Daddy/Daughter Dance

Dads or father figures can treat the young ladies in their life to a night on the town when GEARS holds its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance. The dance will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Salon 1 at Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown.

"Each year, countless families eagerly anticipate this magical event," said Erin Thomas, GEARS special events coordinator. "GEARS is dedicated to offering a diverse array of exceptional family bonding experiences, and the Daddy/Daughter Dance stands out as one of our most popular and well-attended celebrations. This event provides a unique opportunity to witness the heartwarming connection between fathers and daughters as they create lasting memories together."

Thomas noted that the event is not just for dads.

"If Dad's not available, (girls) are welcome to bring any important male in their lives, like a grandfather or older brother," Thomas said. "Some families with multiple daughters bring their grandfathers too so each daughter has a date."

The dance is open to people of all ages, and attendees in the past have been as young as 1 year old. Formal attire is encouraged but not required for the event.

"We have more than just dancing planned for the event, so there is something for everyone," Thomas commented, noting that Occasions Disc Jockeys will provide music and Princess Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will make a special guest appearance. Girls can also enjoy a professional photo by Youth Sports Photo, face painting, Valentine's Day crafts, "Minute to Win It"-style games and light refreshments.

"It's a magical night of bonding fun," Thomas shared. "The venue creates an elegant ambiance, which then helps the participants feel like royalty for a night."

GEARS has hosted the Daddy/Daughter Dance for 15 years.

"Every year, the attendance grows," Thomas said. "It has been such a pleasure to watch families return to the event every year."

GEARS offers year-round events like the dance as part of its mission to connect with the community.

There is a charge for admission to the event, and preregistration is required for the event. To register, visit http://www.getintogears.org or call 717-367-0355. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 7.
