Master Naturalist Training Slated

Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, a nonprofit organization, is partnering with Rock Hollow Woods Environmental Learning Center to train citizen volunteers in the natural sciences this spring. Pennsylvania Master Naturalist is dedicated to building a corps of knowledgeable volunteers committed to protecting Pennsylvania's natural heritage.

Interested Pennsylvanians can become certified Master Naturalists through training and volunteer service. To become a certified Master Naturalist volunteer, an individual must complete an initial 50-hour volunteer training course followed by annual volunteer service and continuing education in the natural sciences.

Adults who are curious about nature, enjoy the outdoors, and want to be a part of natural resource conservation in Pennsylvania are invited to apply. Southeast Pennsylvania training courses will be held on Wednesdays, March 31 through June 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Classes will also meet for four required field sessions on Saturdays, April 10, May 1, May 15, and June 5.

Interested persons should apply online by Monday, Feb. 1, for the training course in Berks County. There is a tuition fee. For more information, readers may visit http://www.pamasternaturalist.org. Scholarships are available. Space is limited. For additional information, readers may also contact Ellyn Nolt, southeast program coordinator, at enolt@pamasternaturalist.org or 717-368-4899.
