May The Luck Of The Irish Be With You

In 2021, the Quarryville Borough hosted a variety of contests for Quarryville residents. "We decided to plan these events to boost morale and get the community to come together in spite of what's going on," explained Michelle Evans, administrative assistant for the Quarryville Borough. There have been three contests so far, which asked participants to create art from sidewalk chalk, write a "What Are You Thankful For?" essay, and display their Christmas lights.

The Quarryville Borough decided to continue this initiative and has announced its next themed contest to bring people some luck in time for St. Patrick's Day. From Saturday, March 12, to Thursday, March 17, Quarryville residents can participate in a scavenger hunt for 12 four-leaf clovers, which will be placed outside and within the borough's limits. No clovers will be hidden on residents' private properties.

Participants can either visit the borough's municipal building, 300 St. Catherine St., Quarryville, or email Evans at evansm@quarryvilleborough.com for a list of clues. Answers are due by 3:30 p.m. on March 17. Participants must write their answers on the list of clues and take pictures of the four-leaf clovers in order to qualify for prizes. Those who find all 12 four-leaf clovers will be placed in a random drawing, and prizes will be awarded to three winners.

Completed entries can be turned in at the borough's municipal building, or they can be emailed to Evans at the aforementioned email address.

"The scavenger hunt is a fun way to kick off spring," said Evans. "It's another community event for our little town. I love our community. The whole family can get in the car, read the clues, and hunt for some four-leaf clovers!"

Evans mentioned that the borough would be unable to host the scavenger hunt without its sponsors: Turkey Hill Experience, Go 'N Bananas, Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, Lancaster Barnstormers, Southern End Community Association (SECA), the Daily Grind, Quarryville Family Restaurant, and Maplehofe Dairy.
