MCCL Sets Christmas Concert Series

The Mennonite Children's Choir of Lancaster (MCCL) has announced its 2022 Christmas concert series.

Concerts will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Historic St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster; Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. at Neffsville Mennonite Church, 2371 Lititz Pike, Lancaster; and Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike, Lancaster.

Guests will experience the retelling of the birth of Jesus through song and Scripture. Several selections from Handel's "Messiah," including a congregational sing-along of the "Hallelujah" chorus, will be interspersed throughout a varied program of familiar favorites, multicultural songs, and bluegrass-infused selections from Tim Sharp's Angel Band. Singers will share music in many languages, which they learned and practiced with native Spanish, French, Ukrainian, and S'gaw Karen speakers. Violin, banjo, guitar, bass, and percussion will round out the program.

MCCL's mission is to train children and youths to glorify Jesus Christ through excellent choral singing. The 110-voice choir includes the Carol Choir for children in second through fifth grades, Concert Choir for sixth- through eighth-graders, and Chamber Choir for students in ninth through 12th grades led by artistic director Rosemary Siegrist Blessing with directors Sarah Wingard and Galen Kauffman. MCCL is a community children's choir program of Lancaster Mennonite School serving children and youths from Lancaster, Chester, York, and Berks counties.

Tickets are not required, but a freewill offering will be received. More information can be found at http://www.mennonitechildrenschoir.org, by emailing mccl@lancastermennonite.org, or by calling 717-455-7025.
