McMullen to manage county parks and trails

The Chester County Parks + Preservation Department has appointed Andrew McMullen as the county's new parks and trails manager. McMullen moved to this role following 22 years with the department starting as a part-time maintenance worker, becoming a regional park ranger, and later serving as the assistant parks and trails manager.

As the parks and trails manager, McMullen is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of Chester County's seven regional park sites and the three regional trails. McMullen succeeds Owen Prusack, who retired in November 2023 after 41 years with the county government.

McMullen graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural education. He served as a sergeant with the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed, he worked with local governments to build community infrastructure and obtain supplies for schools.

The Chester County Parks + Preservation Department provides preservation, recreation, educational, and stewardship services to the residents and visitors of Chester County so they can connect with natural and cultural resources and thrive in a sustainable healthy community.
