Meeting planned to discuss quarry

A public meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at 1610 Landis Road, Mount Joy, to inform neighbors of the Rheems Quarry about the quarry's expansion. During the drop-in gathering, neighbors may ask questions and sign a document containing comments about the expansion; this document will be sent to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The comments were drafted by a federal environmental manager who lives near the quarry and is concerned about issues related to well water, sinkholes, PFAS and other topics. Signing the document does not prevent individual residents from submitting their own comments to the DEP by the Friday, July 14, deadline.

The document may be viewed and downloaded at http://tinyurl.com/rheemsquarry.
