Merchant Marine veteran to speak

The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable will meet on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. The program will also be livestreamed on the YouTube channel Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable.

World War II Merchant Marine veteran Bill Balabanow will share his wartime experiences in both the European and Pacific theaters. Balabanow, who is from Lititz, served as a radio operator aboard several cargo ships, sailing in enemy waters off the coast of France and dodging the threat of Japanese aerial strafing in the Pacific.
