Middle Octorara Presbyterian Will Hold Peach Fest

Come casual and come hungry."

That's Jodie Mylin's advice for people who attend Peach Fest.

The fifth annual event will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. inside Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville.

Everyone is invited. The event will include a free meal, but donations will be accepted for the Women's Mission Fund, which supports organizations such as Toys for Tots, the Pastor's Fuel Fund, New Hope Community Ministries, and Solanco Neighborhood Ministries.

Most of the food will be homemade by Middle Octorara congregants, including Shirley Miller and members of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Women (MOPW). "I feel like the MOPW is really made up of the cornerstones of this church, the women that have been very involved for most of their lives," said Mylin. "So they're very familiar with the kitchen."

The menu will include hamburger barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, potato chips, and beverages.

The stars of the show will be a variety of peach treats, including pies and cobblers, milkshakes, and jelly.

"It's all about the fellowship," Mylin said. "It's just a really good opportunity to get to know your neighbors. We have a wonderful church here. We have a great space to have it in, and it's just a really good time for fellowship. And it's nice that you can come in and enjoy a meal. I think it would be nice to come even if you've been here before. If you've never been here, come, and I think you'll be very happy with the meal and the people."
