Middletown Singers Join In Festivals

Students at Middletown Area High School (MAHS) and Middletown Area Middle School (MAMS) recently participated in chorus festivals.

Dakota Shertzer, Class of 2024, and Adam Moore, Class of 2024, participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Chorus Festival held at Solanco High School on Jan. 13 and 14. At the auditions in October, Adam ranked 10th out of 49 Bass II vocalists, and Dakota ranked 11th out of 51 Tenor II vocalists. Ella Brandt, Class of 2024, also qualified for District Chorus, ranking 21st out of 74 Alto I vocalists, but was unable to attend the festival.

Nine MAMS vocalists participated in the Middle School SongFest at Lebanon Valley College (LVC), which took place on Jan. 11. Students were nominated for this all-day honors chorus event, which included over 160 students from 18 middle schools across the state. The students learned an entire concert program full of music in rehearsals led by music student teachers from LVC. The students then put on a performance for friends and family at the end of the festival. The SongFest participants were Madison Boyer, Riley Brown, Charley Carnes, Gabriella Christman, Kayci Fralin, Brianna Hayes, Adriana Lipscomb, Zoë Montgomery and Francheska Shearer.
