Mount Gretna Art Show announced

The 49th annual Mount Gretna Art Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, on the streets and in the parks of Mount Gretna. The show will take place rain or shine. Those navigating with a GPS should use the address 101 Chautauqua Drive, Mount Gretna.

Held on the historic grounds of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua, the Mount Gretna Art Show features 200 exhibitors, as well as an Emerging Artists section. The art show was ranked in the 200 Best nationwide by Sunshine Artist.

The event will feature a gourmet food court with local restaurants and caterers, including Cracked Pepper, Hershey Bistro, Gosia's Pierogies, The Oasis, What If ... Hershey, and The Hershey Pantry. Snitz Creek Brewery will offer craft beer and wine in the Hall of Philosophy during the show.

The Kids Art Show is scheduled for both days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chautauqua Playground. Children will be invited to participate in make-and-take art activities, spin art, and more. The Art Show invites kids to register to display and sell handmade artwork during the Saturday show. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Kids Art Show is sponsored by a grant from the Mount Gretna United Methodist Church to support the arts.

Entertainment will be presented on the stage near the food court.

On Aug. 19, Ken Gehret and Friends will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gehret is a fiddler and guitarist playing bluegrass and New Orleans-style jazz. From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Paul Colombo Group will present jazz and rock guitar music.

On Aug. 20, Andy Roberts with Fragile Fire will present contemporary and reimagined arrangements from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Third Stream will present jazz from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the Art Show are used to support cultural programs of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua. Media is sponsored in part by a grant from the Lebanon County Commissioners. The show also contributes substantially to the Mount Gretna Volunteer Fire Company and funds a variety of community projects throughout Mount Gretna.

There is an admission fee for people age 12 and over; admission is free for those under 12. The admission fee includes parking in designated parking locations. No pets are permitted on the Art Show grounds.
