Mount Gretna Art Show Scheduled

The 48th annual Mount Gretna Art Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21, on the streets and in the parks of Mount Gretna. The show will be held rain or shine.

Held on the historic grounds of Pennsylvania Chautauqua, the event will feature 200 exhibitors, as well as an "Emerging Artists" section, a food court featuring local restaurants and caterers, music, and entertainment. Upon arrival, visitors will be directed to the appropriate parking area. Shuttle service will be available.

During the art show weekend, traffic flow in and out of Mount Gretna will be substantially altered. Route 117 will be closed during show hours. All routes are clearly marked and staffed.

The Kids Art Show will take place on both days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chautauqua Playground. Children will be invited to participate in make-and-take art activities, a scavenger hunt, spin art, and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The entertainment schedule on the stage by the food court for Saturday will include Ken Gehret and Friends, a renowned fiddler and guitarist playing bluegrass and New Orleans-style jazz, at 11 a.m. and jazz and rock guitar music by the Paul Colombo Group at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, performances will include original music and jazz by New World Parade at 11 a.m. and jazz by Third Stream at 1:30 p.m.

There is an admission charge for adults. Admission is free for children under age 12. The admission fee includes parking in designated parking locations. No pets will be permitted on the art show grounds. Proceeds from the Art Show are used to support cultural programs of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua and to maintain the Chautauqua's historic buildings and grounds.
