Mount Joy Rotary Honors Cook, Gehman

The Donegal High School Counseling Office & Career Resource Center has announced that the Mount Joy Rotary Students of the Month for September are Katherine Cook and Hunter Gehman. Students of the Month are honored by members of the Mount Joy Rotary during the club's monthly luncheon meeting.

Katie is the daughter of Stephen and Diane Cook of Mount Joy. She is president of the Math Honor Society, co-president of Student Council and a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Spanish club and soccer team. Outside of school, Katie has been a certified scuba diver since 2017 and has recently earned her advanced certificate. Her plans after graduation are to attend college to major in either political science or economics and then to attend law school.

Hunter is the son of Seth and Rosalyn Gehman of Mount Joy. He is a member of the National Honor Society, chess club and Spanish club, as well as the cross-country and track and field teams. He was selected as a Semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, meaning he placed among the top 1% of the more than 1.5 million students who took the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). At his church, Hunter attends youth group and is a member of the Wilderness Journeymen, a hiking and camping group. After graduation, he plans to attend college to major in electrical engineering or computer science.
