Mount Joy Rotary Honors Students

The Donegal High School Counseling Office and Career Resource Center has announced the Mount Joy Rotary Students of the Month for October. The honorees are Lauren Fernald, daughter of Christy and Chad Fernald of Mount Joy, and Zachary Karpel, son of Beth and Sean Karpel of Mount Joy. Students of the Month are honored by members of the Mount Joy Rotary Club during their monthly luncheon meeting.

Lauren is involved in the jazz band, the concert band, the choir, Rhythm Singers and Donegal Performing Arts. She has also participated in choir festivals. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, the prayer group and the soccer and track and field teams. Outside of school, Lauren is a nursery and junior church assistant at Calvary Bible Church, where she also attends youth group and is a part of the worship team. After graduation, Lauren plans to receive further training in wedding planning/coordinating and in the overall hospitality management industry.

Zachary is president of the Math Honor Society, captain of the cross-country team and a member of the National Honor Society, the track team and the ski club. Zachary is working toward his Autodesk Inventor User Certification, an industry-recognized credential that can help students to begin careers as designers, engineers and makers. He also participates in youth group at his church and serves on mission trips. After graduation, Zachary plans to attend Liberty University to major in mechanical engineering.
