Mud sale planned

The 10th annual Schoeneck Fire Company mud sale has been scheduled for Saturday, April 15. The Schoeneck Fire Company is located at 125 N. King St., Denver. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the quilt auction opening at 11 a.m. A variety of auction items are being gathered for the day of the event.

"We have lawn and garden tools, and we have toys and scooters," said sale organizer David High, adding that outdoor items such as birdhouses and bird feed will also go over the block, along with a shed, plants, bushes, and shrubbery. "We will have tools," stated High, who noted that manual scooters, two swingsets, and more than 30 themed baskets will be among the items to be auctioned.

The sale is known for including a variety of patterns and colors of quilts, and High said this year organizers hope to have at least 48, including full- and queen-size quilts.

Having a variety of foods available for purchase is a tradition at the mud sale. This year, food items will include homemade doughnuts, which are made on-site, along with soft pretzels and chicken barbecue meals. Sub sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, and pulled pork sandwiches will be offered for sale, and soups will be chicken corn and ham and bean.

The sale will continue until all the items have been sold. Proceeds will benefit the fire company. High noted that the organization is raising funds to purchase another fire truck.
