Museum Posts Virtual Programs

The State Museum of Pennsylvania has announced upcoming virtual exhibits and programs.

The museum remains closed to the public due to the COVID-19 crisis and does not yet have a reopening date. For this reason, Art of the State 2021 is currently being planned as an online exhibit of digital images of artwork that will premiere in September 2021. Artwork will be juried by art professionals, and select prizes will be awarded. More details are forthcoming. If the museum is able to be open to the public by September, the event may be held in person.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania will launch a Learn at Lunchtime series of virtual programs in February. Fine art curator Amy Hammond will kick off the series on Friday, Feb. 5, at 12:15 p.m. by interviewing Ron Tarver, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer who has explored many facets of the African American community for over 30 years. Hammond will host a monthly conversation with an artist or art professional on the first Friday of every month at 12:15 p.m. All of the Learn at Lunchtime programs are free and available via Zoom.
