Museum to host reading event

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania will host its family-friendly Reading on the Rails event on Saturday, March 9. Story times will begin at 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 2 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Among the museum's historic trains, kids will hear stories about locomotives, railroads and more, and receive a sticker after each story. They may create a suitcase design using the stickers, along with crayons, glitter and other trimmings.

Readers will include Kristin Fernitz, director of the Strasburg-Heisler Library, and Kristy Aurand, chief development officer of the Community Action Partnership, along with Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania representatives Kevin Hale, Volunteer of the Year; Patrick Morrison, director; Juliette OConnor, educator; and Elizabeth Myers, volunteer/program coordinator.

On hand throughout the day will be various teams from Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services. Visitors also can meet Catcher, the museum's mascot, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
