National Night Out In Manor Township

Every year on the first Tuesday of the month of August, National Night Out (NNO) is celebrated across the U.S. NNO is an annual campaign that promotes relationships between the community and the police to make neighborhoods safer places to live. In conjunction with the West Hempfield Police, Manor Township Police will host its NNO at Leisure Lanes, 3440 Columbia Ave., Lancaster. The event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Participants from the West Hempfield Police Department, Manor Township Police Department, and several other organizations will be at the event to provide information with free handouts and giveaways for the public. The night will consist of games, prizes, music, and activities suitable for people of all ages. Returning this year will be the dunk tank, where people get the opportunity to dunk police officers.

"This is a time to come out and meet your local police," stated Sgt. Kimberly Geyer from Manor Township Police Department. "In struggling times, this event is a good way to see the positive."

Food trucks will be a new addition to the event this year. Farm Show Milkshakes, Walk-O Taco, Scoop's Ice Cream and Grille, Good Guys Chicken and Fries, Dough Heads Waffles, Auntie Anne's, and Rita's Italian Ice will be making an appearance.
