Navy veteran to speak

The Military Oral History Club of Lancaster County will host John Wolfe as the speaker on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. at VFW Post 2435, 401 Manor St., Columbia.

Wolfe served in the Navy during World War II. His training, conducted at many U.S. Naval Air Centers, was on the PV-1 Ventura, a twin-engine bomber. He also served with an operating squadron that conducted anti-submarine patrols. Wolfe remained in the Navy Reserve following active duty and became a commercial pilot. He is also an aviation historian. He recently took part in an AARP program in June that grants the wishes of retired adults.
