New rabbit and cavy club launches

Chester County 4-H will introduce its new Wild Clover Rabbit and Cavy Club in October. This club is open to members ages 5 to 18. The meetings will be held at the Romano 4-H Center, 1841 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, starting Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Rabbits and cavies (guinea pigs) are suitable animals for many 4-H members who do not have enough land to own livestock. The club is intended to teach members the proper care and management of these animals. At meetings, club members will learn about handling and grooming techniques, proper care and nutrition, husbandry practices, breeding, showing and maintaining record books. Animal ownership is not required.

Registration is requested at https://4h.zsuite.org. For further information on the 4-H program in Chester County, contact the Penn State Extension Office at 610-696-3500.
