Nonprofits sought for PCA&D Designathon

Central Pennsylvania nonprofits are encouraged to apply to participate in Pennsylvania College of Art & Design's 16th annual Designathon event, which provides branding and design work for free in a 12-hour marathon of creativity. The event is scheduled this year for Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Held by the college's student chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and headed by graphic arts department chair Maria Hostetter, the event benefits both area nonprofit organizations and the students who volunteer their time and talents. Organizations leave the event with a portfolio of professional-quality design elements, while students gain real-world experience in creating projects for clients with a tight deadline.

Since the event's founding, more than 150 nonprofit organizations have participated in Designathon. Each year, a collaboration of AIGA students and PCA&D students, alumni, and faculty members results in new logos, brochures, website assets, and other deliverables for nonprofit participants.
