Open house, dementia training planned

Meadow View Memory Support at Garden Spot Village will host an open house on Tuesday, June 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. A dementia training will be provided at 6 p.m. to educate people with a dementia diagnosis and their family members.

Special guest Connie Metzler, program coordinator and nurse case manager at Penn Medicine LG Health Physicians Alzheimer's and Memory Care Program, will present along with Melody Karick, memory care educator and consultant with Garden Spot Communities.

Metzler has served LG Health for more than 30 years as a hospital nurse and nursing instructor at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.

Karick has served people with dementia for more than 15 years, including as director of memory support for Garden Spot Village for 10 years.

Attendees will learn how to assist and build relationships with family and community members living with dementia. They will also be invited to tour Meadow View, enjoy light refreshments and receive a complimentary gift.
