Orchestra plans concert, fundraiser

Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will present a concert titled "Natural World" on Friday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Gardner Theatre within Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster. A free pre-concert lecture will begin 45 minutes before each performance time.

The program consists of music inspired by nature, featuring Stephen Lias' "Gates of the Arctic," Alan Hovhaness' "Mysterious Mountain," and Aaron Copland's "Suite From 'The Tender Land.'" Lias will join the LSO to showcase video presentations he developed for his composition and Hovhaness' work. Additionally, the LSO is partnering with the Lancaster Farmland Trust to bring images and videos from Lancaster County to accompany the Copland piece and to highlight the mission of the Farmland Trust to protect and steward Lancaster farms. The concert also includes Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms," featuring the Lancaster Symphony Chorus.
