Order Up! Farm Show Stand To Serve Dinners

For many years, the New Holland United Methodist Church (NHUMC), 120 W. Main St., New Holland, prepared and sold dinners in the church kitchen and fellowship hall during the New Holland Fair. The fair was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, but in 2021, NHUMC sold dinners from a stand in front of the church.

"We set tables up on the front lawn and a lot of people opted to eat there," said NHUMC representative Heather Bressi. This year's New Holland Farmers Fair will be held from Wednesday, Sept. 28, through Saturday, Oct. 1, and NHUMC will again have a stand in front of the church to sell dinners. The stand will be open Sept. 28; Thursday, Sept. 29; and Friday, Sept. 30, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. until dinners are sold out.

For 2022, set-price packaged dinners will include pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and applesauce. Sodas, water, and a selection of baked desserts will be sold separately.

According to Bressi, during the 2021 fair, the church sold 300 meals. "We try to keep prices down," she said, noting that customer response to the meals was positive.

Funds raised by the sale of dinners during farm show will go to the general church budget. "We are trying to restore the stained glass windows and plaster walls upstairs in the church," said Bressi.
