Organization Launches Website, Issues Call for Art

The Blue Green Connector, an environmental restoration and trail initiative, has launched its new website, marking a milestone in connecting Lancaster County residents to nature, clean water, and creative community experiences.

Led by the Steinman Foundation and in partnership with local government and community partners, the Blue Green Connector is a multi-year effort to restore the Little Conestoga Creek corridor and create a 3.5-mile ADA-accessible trail. The new website features interactive maps, restoration information, and news and community events. To view the website, visit https://bluegreenconnector.org.

The project is also issuing a Call for Art to help shape the future of the trail through permanent, site-specific artworks. The Call for Art is open to artists, design professionals, and craftspeople within a 100-mile radius of Lancaster. They are invited to submit their qualifications for consideration to create permanent artworks along the trail. Formats will include sculptures, interactive installations, stamped concrete, and artistic seating. Creative themes for art on the trail are biodiversity, clean waterways, sustainability, rewilding and restoration, and human to nature connection. Selected artists may be commissioned to install works between 2025 and 2028 as the trail opens in phases.

The submission deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 15. More information and submission guidelines are available at https://bluegreenconnector.org/the-learning-lab/art-on-the-trail/#form.
