Organizations to provide food boxes

The Columbia Lions Club and Sunsnappers will deliver Christmas food boxes in Columbia and surrounding areas again this year. Registration is closed, but anyone who would like to be placed on the waiting list in case of any cancellations may call 717-715-3592. Families that are registered for a Columbia Christmas food box should be home on Sunday, Dec. 22, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. until their box arrives.

Community volunteers are welcome to help deliver the boxes. Volunteers should arrive in their personal vehicles at the Columbia Borough Fire Hall, 726 Manor St., Columbia, at 11 a.m. on Dec. 22, heading west on Manor Street from 13th Street. Lions Club and Sunsnapper volunteers will be on hand to load the vehicles. Organizers encourage drivers to wear a Christmas hat or sweater to spread holiday cheer.

Senior apartment complexes in the area, such as Trinity House Apartments, St. Peters Apartments, Marietta Senior Apartments, Landisville Apartments, and Sylvan Retreat Apartments, will receive a hot Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 29, in lieu of a food box. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the lobby of each building.
