Park to hold anniversary celebration

The Strasburg Community Park Foundation will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Strasburg Community Park, 151 Precision Ave., Strasburg, on Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will include music from 1 to 4 p.m. at the park's amphitheater by jazz musician Tom Pontz and his group, The Tom Pontz Project. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets.

"Stream in a Bucket" will be presented by Sallie Gregory, education operations coordinator with the Lancaster County Conservation District, in the park's pavilion from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants of all ages will examine and discover what is living in local stream water.

The celebration will reflect on the 25-year history of the park, which was started by a group of Strasburg residents who wanted to transform an open field, slated for a housing development, into a community park. Strasburg Community Park features walking paths, a natural amphitheater, and a pavilion and highlights native plants in varied landscapes such as woodlands, meadows, vernal ponds, and wetlands. The park is managed and maintained by volunteers and supported entirely by donations.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit https://strasburgcommunitypark.org/.
