Parkinson's Community Walk set

HARTZ Physical Therapy, in partnership with CrushPD Fitness and the Red Rose Parkinson's Lecture Series and Support Group, will celebrate Parkinson's Awareness Month, April, with a Parkinson's Community Walk on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Manheim Township Community Park, Petersburg Road, Lancaster. In addition to the walk, the event will include resources and information from vendors along with games and other activities.

The Red Rose Parkinson's Lecture Series and Support Group, founded in April 2022 by HARTZ Physical Therapy and CrushPD Fitness, meets on the first Wednesday of every month and features speakers from nutritionists and speech language pathologists to holistic therapists and representatives of Parkinson's foundations. The meetings have grown consistently and are open to people with Parkinson's, along with their caregivers, family members, and friends.

Greta Myers, a neurological physical therapist at HARTZ Physical Therapy, was instrumental in putting together this group. In addition to her growing list of Parkinson's patients, she treats people with multiple sclerosis and is a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist. Myers is active in the community and speaks at various events on the importance of physical therapy and the circle of care that is needed for those with Parkinson's disease.

There is a fee to participate in the walk, and all walkers who register by Friday, April 14, will receive a free T-shirt. To register, visit http://www.hartzpt.com/community/parkinsons-walk/.
