Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer programs to the community. Unless otherwise noted, there is a per-person fee for the programs, and activities will take place at the Environmental Center in Lancaster County Central Park, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. Additionally, unless noted otherwise, registration and payment are required by noon on the business day before the event. Thursday in the Park: Water and Ice, for children ages 6 to 9, will occur on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. and from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Depending upon the weather, participants will discover the work of flowing water and/or ice on landscapes in the park. Attendees should dress for the weather and outdoor activity. Children under age 6 are welcome if accompanying older siblings.

GPS Tic-Tac-Toe will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. People of all ages are invited to participate. After receiving instruction on the use of handheld GPS units, attendees will search for geocaches. They should dress for outdoor activity and wear shoes appropriate for covering 1 to 2 miles on varied terrain. When registering, people should indicate the number of GPS units required. They should plan to leave keys or a driver's license if borrowing a unit. Adults must accompany children.

Weekend Laboratory: Aquatic Invertebrates, for youths ages 12 to 17, will occur on Sunday, Feb. 21, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in Pavilion 22, 1101 Kiwanis Drive, Lancaster. Children will learn about the microscopic plants and animals that power food chains and make Earth habitable. Adults must sign release forms as they drop off students for the program.

Munchkin Science: Winter Scavenger Hunt, for children ages 3 to 5, will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. Children will work with their parents to find the natural items on a provided list. Anyone who finds all the items in the designated time will win a small prize. Siblings are welcome.
