Pianist, Dancer To Perform

Gretna Music will present Conrad Tao and Caleb Teicher in concert on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mount Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Gretna.

The program will includes the duo performing excerpts from Bach's "Goldberg Variations" and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" as well as improvisations.

Tao is the recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and was named a Gilmore Young Artist, an honor awarded every two years to highlight the most promising American pianists of the new generation. As a composer, he was also the recipient of a 2019 New York Dance and Performance "Bessie" Award for Outstanding Sound Design/Music Composition for his work on "More Forever," his collaboration with dancer and choreographer Caleb Teicher.

Teicher is a New York City-based dancer and choreographer who has specialized in music-driven dance and interdisciplinary collaboration and who founded Caleb Teicher & Company. Teicher's work has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, Forbes and Vogue, as well as on the cover of Dance Magazine, among others.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a First Listen performance at 6:45 p.m. featuring cellist Katrina Wolfe. The First Listen program features local talented youths in free mini concerts before Gretna Music's mainstage concerts.
