Piano concert set at The Trust

The Trust Performing Arts Center will again partner with Lancaster International Piano Festival (LIPF) during the 2023-24 arts and culture season for three concerts. The first of these events will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Great Hall of The Trust, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster. It will feature Tianxu An, an award-winning young pianist from China. The concert will include Chopin's Fantasie Op. 49 and Schumann's Sonata No.1, Op. 11.

A native of Baoding, Hebei province, An made his orchestral debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and he has also performed with the Mariinsky Orchestra in St. Petersburg, with the China Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the International Mariinsky Far East Festival and in solo recitals at the Mariinsky Theatre and Shanghai Grand Theater. His awards include fourth prize and a special prize in the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition, first prize in the Albert M. Greenfield Student Competition, grand prize in the "Helen Cup" Shanghai International Piano Competition and second prize in the Wiesbaden International Piano Competition.

In the summer of 2021, An toured mainland China, with performances in 19 cities, and he released his first album that August. He completed his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2022.

The other two LIPF events will be a performance on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. by pianist Tanya Gabrielian and a concert on Saturday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. by the Elaris Duo and Xun Pan.
