Pink in the Park fundraiser slated

Pink in the Park will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, at WellSpan Park, 5 Brooks Robinson Way, York. Themed "The Best of Broadway," the seventh annual event will bring together up to 750 women and men to raise money for local breast cancer patients in need.

Doors open at 5 p.m. The program and live auction will be held from 7:15 to 9 p.m. An online auction will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at noon and end on Friday, Oct. 13, at noon.

During Pink in the Park, live entertainment will be provided by Broadway stars John Cudia, Jenny DeNoia, Michele McConnell, Hayley Podschun, Vanessa Sears, Peter Matthew Smith, Kathy Voytko, and Jason Wooten. Participating performers will also include Debbie Butcher, executive director of the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation; Maria Cade, Miss Butler County; and Michael Austin, head of entertainment at Strasburg Railroad. The York Symphony Orchestra, theater students from Central York High School, and local pianists will perform Broadway songs throughout the event.

Eight downtown York restaurants and two additional food vendors will serve food, including desserts. Signature cocktails, wine, and beer will be available for purchase.

The dress code is casual. Attendees may also come dressed as their favorite Broadway actor.

Proceeds from Pink in the Park ticket sales, the online and live auctions, donations, and corporate sponsorships will benefit breast cancer patients via services provided by Penn State Cancer Institute, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, WellSpan York Cancer Center and Vinnie Myers Pink Ink Project.
