Plant sale preview, Herb and Garden Faire planned

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, located on Landis Valley Road off Oregon Pike (Route 272), Lancaster, has planned events leading up to and occurring during Mother's Day weekend.

The Landis Valley's Heirloom Seed Project (HSP) will host its inaugural Plant Sale Preview Party on Thursday, May 9, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Attendees may buy HSP plants, honor mothers and HSP volunteers, enjoy wine and cheese, and have chances to win HSP door prizes. People must be 21 years of age or older to obtain wine.

The dress code is garden creative casual, and muck boots are encouraged. There is a discount for Landis Valley Associates members. Sponsorships are available, and a portion of the fee will go to HSP. To purchase tickets by Tuesday, May 7, at 5 p.m., visit http://www.landisvalleymuseum.org and click on Events.

Landis Valley will host its 36th Herb and Garden Faire from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11. The event will occur rain or shine, and attendees are advised to dress for the weather.

The event will feature plants from HSP, along with items from vendors spread out over the historic village area of the site. Vendors will sell heirloom plants, native plants, and other hard-to-find varieties. Food and drinks will be available on-site.

Tickets will be available for purchase in advance at the aforementioned website as well as at the front gate on the day of the event. There is a discount for seniors age 65 and up and children ages 6 to 11. Admission is free to children age 5 and under.
