Poetry-inspired art show posted

Marietta Art Alive! will host a poetry-inspired art show at the MH Art Gallery, 42 W. Market St., Marietta, through Sunday, Nov. 19. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays as well as 5 to 8 p.m. on the second Friday of each month.

When Marietta Art Alive! members wanted to host a second poetry-inspired show, they sought out works that would provide a strong visual connection. "Night Trees" by Ruth Ann Meyers Kulp of Lancaster fit the bill. Eighty-five artists submitted artworks, and 45 pieces were juried into the exhibit. The mediums include oil, pastel, charcoal, pen and ink, collage, watercolor, ceramic relief, etching, graphite and mixed media.

Kulp gave a dramatic reading of her work at the artist reception and selected a Poet's Award. Juror's Awards and a People's Choice Award were also presented.

The artworks can be seen by visiting http://www.mhartgallery.com and clicking on "Night Trees Gallery."

Six artists from Marietta Art Alive! regularly show at the MH Art Gallery, which also organizes invitational and juried exhibits. Marietta Art Alive! is an arm of Rivertownes PA USA, and together they organize the annual Susquehanna River Towns Plein Air event.
