On Nov. 17, American Legion Post 662 presented representatives of 11 local nonprofit organizations, with donations totaling $26,000. In addition, the post awarded 10 students from the ELANCO and Ephrata school districts $5,000 in scholarship money.

The organizations receiving the funds were Garden Spot Fire Rescue, New Holland Summer Arts Association, Welsh Mountain Community Center, New Holland Ambulance Association, ELANCO Library, Veterans of Foreign Wars, New Holland Veterans Council, Terre Hill Community, Venture Crew 52, Toys for Tots, and Wreaths Across America.

The post's goals are to assist in improving the lives of veterans and support local charities and nonprofit organizations.
