Pre-K Counts Coming To Landisville

The Owl Hill Pre-K Counts program, offered collaboratively by The Owl Hill Learning Center and Hempfield School District (HSD), is coming soon to Landisville Primary Center. The class is designed for 4-year-old children to experience a prekindergarten program in the Hempfield School District.

Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts provides prekindergarten services in schools, preschools, and child care centers throughout the state. This new program is open to HSD children who turned 4 on or before Sept. 1 and meet the program eligibility requirements.

The program has been approved through the Office of Child Development and Early Learning. Pending final approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education board and the HSD board, classes for students will start on Monday, Oct. 25, at Landisville Primary Center, 320 Mumma Drive, Landisville. Two half-day sessions will be offered - a three-hour morning program and a three-hour afternoon program - and will follow the HSD calendar.

Materials and breakfast or lunch are provided at no cost to families. Transportation is the responsibility of the family, as no busing is offered for this program.

The Owl Hill Pre-K Counts staff will be conducting eligibility screenings by appointment, or community members may find the Pre-K Counts Application and Eligibility Screening form at http://www.hempfieldsd.org/prekcounts.
