Presentation to focus on C. Emlen Urban

The Millersville Area Historical Society (MAHS) invites the public to a presentation titled "Urban Legend: The Untold Story!" when it meets at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Millersville's Municipal Center, 100 Municipal Drive. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and lock at 9:15 a.m.

The speaker will be Gregory J. Scott, an architect, a historian, and an author. His recently published book "Urban Legend" examines the life and legacy of C. Emlen Urban, Lancaster's most prolific architect. Scott's slideshow will offer the audience a behind-the-scenes look at how the book was developed - focusing on the events and discoveries that led him to become serious about producing the book and, consequently, to its publication in November. He also will discuss the accolades for content and design the book has earned since its debut. A question-and-answer period will close the meeting.

Scott is a partner emeritus and co-founder of RLPS Architects in Lancaster and shares his expertise with the regional community through his ongoing architecture column in LNP; as an architecture correspondent for WGAL-TV8; and as a member of Lancaster County Behavioral Health and Development Services. The Lancaster and Northeast Harbor, Maine, resident has been twice honored with the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County's Journalist and Educator Award.

Although admission is free, donations will be accepted. For more details, contact Phil Gerber at 717-872-8837 before noon or at pge8507@aol.com.
